Welcome to Vino De Mexico. The wines of Baja
Mexico, a short hour and a half from San Diego, California, are growing in
prominence because of an extreme dedication by growers to become something
very unique. To a few people a Mexican wine may not sound that
intriguing. However, I would ask that you put aside your
preconceptions and explore a wine country that has its
roots deep in European grapes and wine making techniques.
Mexico
wineries are becoming internationally recognized. As the list of
awards grow, so does interest in what will inevitably be a great region,
rivaling, perhaps, the wines of Napa. Vino De Mexico explores the
history, regions, wineries, where to eat, where to stay, and the activities of
Mexico's wine country.
I have toured wineries up and down the west coast (Temecula, Santa Barbara,
Napa, Sonoma, etc.). When you explore the wines of Mexico it is not
just a tasting, it is an experience. A rugged land with a climate that
is near that of France, the moisture of Napa, and earth as rich as
California's central valley. The flavor of the soil come through in
not only the wine, but in the food. Prepare for a journey that will
enrich your life. A sustenance that can only come from being as close
to the soil of Mexico. Follow this link for an overview of the history of
wine in Mexico. |
